Years ago, a small (one man?) company called The Upgrade Factory ran a successful Kickstarter project to create some modular plastic terrain with BT in mind.

I just managed to get some this past summer and played around with creating a couple of layouts. I have not yet played any BT using the but thought you guys might enjoy seeing the results.

My first impressions, without having yet used them for actual gaming, is that they are very fun to put together even if the pieces don't always fit 100% perfectly together. My bigger concern is that I don't really have enough to do either of the two themes I tried to the extent of the usual two-mapsheet play area size. I only managed 16x24, which is roughly a single mapsheet. The TUF hexes ain't cheap and I would need to double my investment in at least one of these biome themes to play a standard sized game.

Right now, the more versatile sets I'd prefer (green- and brown-based) are frustratingly OOS (and have been for a while). I understand that TUF is currently working on getting restocks.

On the plus side, unlike other similar products, you do get some substantial elevation with TUF hexes. And, as you can see in the pictures below, it is also pretty easy at a glance to tell what elevation they are.

If you do look into getting some of your own TUF hexes for BattleTech, be sure to shop for the 33mm sized hexes rather than the one-inch products TUF also sells.

Okay onto the pictures ...

First up, an arctic theme with some modest settlement infrastructure (also from TUF):

Next a jungle river theme:
